I’ve got four humans that call me Mom – a sweet six year old girl that is the best big sister ever, a one-of-a-kind four year old girl that keeps me on my toes and twins (one of each) that just turned two!
With a tiny splash of half and half, and it’s usually cold by the time I get to it…because kids.
I was born in Indiana and moved several times between Indiana and Illinois while growing up – but I consider myself a Hoosier. After a few years in Florida and then a few in Washington, DC, we have planted our roots back in the Midwest in Oak Park, IL – just west of Chicago (and home to Frank Lloyd Wright and Ernest Hemingway).
My happy place is a week spent in Michigan with my parents, my sister and brother-in-law and my family of six. The 10 of us in a rental house enjoying a week together.
Fill your little one’s closet with items that can be mixed and matched – that can include lots of patterns, but keep it to one or two color palettes that coordinate so they can have the independence to pick things out each morning. And for me, I love the creativity I see in my daughter when she dresses herself, and I know it’s likely only a phase. Let them be little!
Breakfast with the kids around the table followed by a morning spent in our PJs with nothing to do.
I’ve come to accept that “doing it all” is not possible. It’s just not. And that’s ok. Some days there are dishes in the sink all day but we are celebrating a half birthday. Others the laundry is in piles, washed but waiting (and waiting) to be folded but we spent the whole day making memories at the zoo. That’s what is most important to me.
I absolutely love the families I get to work with – to build relationships with moms and style their kids brings me so much joy. And I really love when they add a new little one to their family – and I love that we are all on this same parenting journey together!
